MARKETS: Sensex tumbles 350 pts, Nifty around 15,550; PSU banks, metals dip


LIVE market updates: The Indian benchmark indices fell over half a per cent in Monday’s early deals, tracking weak cues from their Asian peers.

The S&P BSE Sensex slid 350 points, or 0.68 per cent, to 51,960 levels the broader Nifty50 index was around the 15,550-mark. ICICI Bank fell 2 per cent was the top Sensex laggard, followed by Mahindra & Mahindra, State Bank of India, IndusInd Bank (all down over 1%).

The Nifty sectoral indices were painted red, with Nifty Metal Nifty PSU Bank indexes, down 2 per cent each, bleeding the most.

In the broader markets, the S&P BSE MidCap SmallCap indices traded 0.9 per cent 0.7 per cent down, respectively.

Oil India, Info Edge, Bharat Dynamics, TCNS Clothing, VST Tillers Tractors are among 70 companies slated to post their quarterly numbers today.
